About Content ID claims

The audio published on this site is made widely available to the general public. Please absolutely do not register our audio or works containing our audio for rights claims on YouTube — doing so would infringe the rights of composers and users.

If such acts are confirmed, the rights holder or their agent may respond as copyright infringement against the composer, not limited to YouTube.

If you receive a copyright infringement claim

If a video using our audio receives a copyright infringement claim on YouTube, the following causes are possible. Please check the alert in your YouTube management screen and identify the applicable cause.

1. Your use violates the license or a composer’s specified conditions

If audio from this site is used in a way that violates our license or the usage conditions set by the composer, the rights holder (the composer, or this site and its agent TRACKS Inc. (*details below*)) may file a copyright claim.

On this site, composers share information about violating users with each other. If you find your audio being used improperly, we recommend taking appropriate action.

2. The claimant is “TRACKS Inc.”

TRACKS Inc. handles copyright management for our audio on YouTube. If TRACKS Inc. files a claim against a YouTube video using audio published on this site, that video may be violating the license prohibitions or a composer’s usage conditions. If multiple or severe violations are detected, the YouTube account may be blacklisted and TRACKS may file claims on all detected videos thereafter, regardless of whether each video is a violation.

3. The claimant is “TRACKS Inc. (Publishing)”

To address organizations that have made incorrect rights claims on our published audio on YouTube (*details below*), we began a procedure on 2022/02/25 to restore publishing rights management on YouTube to TRACKS Inc.

As part of this, a bug has been observed in which some videos using our audio temporarily receive copyright claims from “TRACKS Inc. (Publishing)” during the process.

These claims from “TRACKS Inc. (Publishing)” are temporary and TRACKS is aware of the issue and is addressing the affected videos. If a claim occurs, the video will return to normal status after some time, but if you file a dispute on YouTube, TRACKS will respond to the affected video promptly.

4. Incorrect claims by copyright organizations

There have been reports of foreign copyright organizations wrongly asserting so-called “music publishing” rights against audio published on our site on YouTube.

If any of the above organizations claim rights over music used in your YouTube video, the following problems may occur:

• Ads may not be shown on the video
• Part of the video’s ad revenue may be taken
• Song credits may be added to the video description

Under the conditions stated in the “Warranty of audio” section of our license, composers are permitted to publish audio on this site, but these issues are caused by the above organizations making incorrect claims under YouTube’s current operational rules and systems. We are currently working with overseas copyright organizations and YouTube to resolve the problem.

Also, the above list includes organizations that locate publicly available audio on the Internet, sample or alter it without the rights holder’s permission, and then file claims on YouTube. These actors primarily aim to obtain ad revenue and file copyright claims against many users on YouTube.

Whether the claim is an “incorrect rights assertion” or a “rights claim based on sampling/alteration,” the person who received the claim must file a dispute on YouTube or contact YouTube support. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

5. Audio made using sampled material

The audio that caused the claim may have been produced using legitimately purchased sampled material from a retailer. If the claimant is asserting rights over that sampled portion (a phrase), you can file a dispute. Please contact the composer of the audio to confirm whether samples were used and the production details.

6. If none of 1–5 apply
