Prohibited Uses
The following uses/methods of using audio tracks are prohibited. For details, see the Prohibited Uses section of the Audio Use License.
Use that violates laws or public order and morals
- Using audio tracks in works or content that violate laws (Japanese law) or public order and morals.
Use related to politics, religion, or other ideologies
- Using audio tracks in works or content related to politics, religion, or other ideologies.
Uses where the audio is the primary content
- Publishing videos or similar where the audio track is the main content (without adding value to the audio), such as “background music for work,” “healing music,” or “web radio whose main content is music introductions.”
- Using audio tracks in products, works, apps, or other creations whose primary purpose is to have end users listen to the audio, or that have no main function other than playing the audio.
Uses outside the scope of licenses for musical works
- Using audio for performances or singing (e.g., “I tried singing” or “I tried playing”) without meeting the Use in musical works conditions (adding creative elements and distributing on UGC platforms).
- Distributing, selling, or performing musical works on platforms other than user-submitted free-to-listen internet services (UGC services). This includes (but is not limited to) distribution on Apple Music or Spotify, registering with music recognition services like Shazam, distribution as BGM materials, and selling physical items like CDs or music boxes.
Redistribution, public performance, and other uses
- Distributing or selling audio tracks, whether for profit or not.
- Using audio in a way that allows end users to easily access or copy the audio files as audio files without conversion.
- Public performance of audio tracks such as live performances (including publishing recordings or videos of audio being performed).
- Creating and publishing or selling sheet music for the audio. However, this does not apply if the site operator agrees otherwise in writing.
- Using audio tracks for AI training.
- Using audio in a way that defames or is likely to defame the composer or creator.
- Registering audio tracks, the songs they belong to, or related musical works or creations (whether inside or outside the scope of this license) with copyright management organizations such as JASRAC.
- Registering audio tracks, the songs they belong to, or related musical works or creations (whether inside or outside the scope of this license) in fingerprint databases on platforms (YouTube’s Content ID is an example but not limited to it).
If a claim is made on YouTube
- If a license violation is suspected, a rights holder (or their agent) may file a claim. Please also check Using on YouTube.
